Delayed gratification

The Marshmallow Test from Watermark Community Church on Vimeo.

Cute and funny!! A few kids are tested on their ability to self control.

Based on initial Stanford psychology test in 1972 to test on will power. The researcher then found….

“Once Mischel began analyzing the results, he noticed that low delayers, the children who rang the bell quickly, seemed more likely to have behavioral problems, both in school and at home. They got lower S.A.T. scores. They struggled in stressful situations, often had trouble paying attention, and found it difficult to maintain friendships. The child who could wait fifteen minutes had an S.A.T. score that was, on average, two hundred and ten points higher than that of the kid who could wait only thirty seconds.”

On a related note — in today’s world of instant gratification (heck, internet slow loading pun sudah impatient), we should take a deep breath, pause and remember: Sabar. Isn’t it great how Allah reminds us constantly about this. Over and over again, in many surahs, it is stated: Be patient, be patient, be patient.

A reminder for me first and foremost.

Love me

Ps. Hmm, not sure how my anak buahs will fare in this. Maybe I should experiment *hands in glee*
